  • Family Therapy

If you are a parent and have noticed that your child is behaving differently than usual, perhaps you are here to seek individual therapy for them. My philosophy is that ideally, your entire family attends therapy. Yes, this probably sounds like a lot! However, there are reasons for this.

First, I believe that change occurs within the context of relationships. Second, the more people that participate in family therapy, the faster you will experience change. Lastly, I’ve observed that the people who do not want to attend therapy are generally the ones who need to be there the most.

In therapy, I help your family communicate more openly, bringing the unspoken dynamics to the surface. Together we will learn how to reduce the use of defense mechanisms, which will foster deeper connections with one another. This ultimately creates congruent and bonded family units who can handle each others’ differences and aren’t constantly in conflict.

  • Couples Therapy

Couples therapy is not about who does or doesn’t do the dishes (although it’s tempting to talk about!). It’s about how you communicate about disagreements (and during them) when conflicts inevitably arise.

I will help you cut through the surface layers so that we can bring forth the real reason you are in therapy: the underlying patterns of communication that are keeping you stuck in the same loop over and over. Together we can figure out the one thing that affects everything in your relationship.

Being in couples therapy does not mean that your relationship is a failure. In fact, I would argue that it means quite the opposite – you care so much about your partnership that you are willing to invest time, money, and emotional energy into creating a fulfilling and loving relationship.

  • Individual Adults

Do you struggle with feelings of low self-esteem or the need to always “be good”? Do you feel blocked or frozen when trying to speak up for yourself? Are you generally numb or disconnected from yourself and your feelings?

Perhaps you have gone through a traumatic loss recently and you need to process this event with someone who will never get tired of hearing your story and hold space for you to break down and cry.

If so, I am here for you. I will help you connect to your inherent worthiness. We can process through past experiences and help you get to the other side, where your pain is not constantly holding you back.

As a relationally trained therapist, I can help you wade through the struggles you are dealing with in your romantic, friendship, family, or professional relationships. I always take into account your family/childhood, as well as larger systems (culture, race/ethnicity, religion/spirituality, sexuality, societal beliefs, etc.) in order to contextualize your situation and help you connect to yourself.

“The problem is never the problem. It is only a symptom of something much deeper.”
